Welcome to BE+ BOXFIT, Yokohama’s premier private boxing gym! I’m Latyr Sar, and I’m excited to share my story and the vision behind our unique gym.

Our Story

BE+ BOXFIT isn’t just a gym; it’s a labor of love, born from my passion for martial arts and the desire to balance family and fitness. I grew up in Senegal, where I began my journey in martial arts with Karate as a kid. My teenage years brought me to Japan, where I delved into Judo, honing my skills and discipline. In my mid-20s, I discovered Pencak Silat, which led me to compete internationally and achieve significant milestones, including a Silver medal at the 2013 Open Belgium tournament and a Gold medal at the Merpati Putih World Championship in Bandung.

In 2017, I found a new passion: boxing. The physical conditioning, the grueling sparring sessions, the mental focus, and the discipline required were unlike anything I had ever experienced. But with a demanding job as a manager in an international manufacturing company and a growing family, the long commutes to the gym left little time for my pregnant wife and soon-to-be-born daughter. It was during this challenging period that the idea of a private “home” gym was born.

The Concept

The mindset “if you can’t go to the gym, let the gym go to you” became my guiding principle. I wanted a space where I could pursue my passion for boxing without sacrificing time with my family. Thus, BE+ BOXFIT was created, a container gym purposefully installed in a residential area, right next to my house. It’s one of the first of its kind in Japan, designed to bring the gym to the community and make fitness accessible and convenient for everyone.

Our Mission

At BE+ BOXFIT, we believe boxing is more than just a sport. It’s a transformative journey that builds physical strength, mental focus, perseverance, willpower, discipline, and emotional self-regulation. These are values that transcend the ring, empowering you to excel in both your personal and professional life. Boxing compels you to be more, to strive for a better version of yourself every day.
